Well I got a phone call from a farmer I lease property from Thursday/ He told me he had given my number to a snow goose guide and that the birds were using my lease. Andy called me while I was at my sons karate belt testing so I had to call him back. My son was super excited. When I called him back we discussed the field conditions and the amount of birds using the field. My only worry was this lease has multiple waterfowl members and I wanted them to have a chance to go. Andy was all about it. He told me to text him the number of guys that would be joining and he would have tyvek suits, facemasks and hats for them. I called everyone in the lease and only one other guy could go. Andy told me to be there at 6am. When I got there they were still in the field at the rig with the trailer. I couldn't believe the amount of decoys they had out. It was well over 1,000. When we walked out to the rig one of the guides Nate met us with our gear. They put a lot of attention on my son Anthony and they really made him feel really important. For that I am grateful. He was fired up. Andy also surprised me by lending me his gun and shells. You talk about a stand up guy. I was very impressed. I was shooting a Winchester sx3 with and extended magazine tube that held 11 shells total!!! This conservation season is awesome.... *lol* Between that and the E-callers this was blowing my mind. I had never really been on a serious snow goose hunt before. The only thing that had me worried was that a large group of birds had roosted there. I have never seen that there but I guess they were on out sheet water pond. Anyway as shooting time started wave after wave of birds started flying. My son was shaking with excitement. I could hear him next to me saying " Daddy get ready, here they come " over and over while giggling and smiling *lol* I think our first opportunity was around 24-30 birds right in our faces. We letem have it... It was awesome. I killed 3 birds on my first jump and missed 2. Not sure how many shells you can shoot on target in time before they get out of range without just pulling the trigger as fast as you can *lol* We had a lot of single and pairs of juvenile birds come in and it made the hunt. The end of the day total was 39 snows. I had to leave a little early due to prior engagement's and Andy said they had a few more pitch ins after I left. Either way I had a blast and my son was absolutely going nuts. The guys at AA outdoors were really great and I really appreciate the opportunity. I think I have a future snow goose hunting addict on my hands *lol*
