Getting close. This will be my first time in the Midwest. Several good bucks have been showing themselves.
I went to the camp today to pick up all my clothes, and back pack. Washing everything tonight and packing. Still have to pick up a few things but just about ready.

No doubt it will be a fun time hunting with you brothers whether you kill or not, but I hope you get that big 7 pt.

The weather forecast is for warm weather and rain. Not the best conditions but I still feel good about the hunt. May spend a little more time in the cabin than I want but I need to get on the stand when the rain breaks.

Above is a photo of my brother Paul's buck. He broke off a matching G2 on his left side. 11 or 12 inches. Paul has several pictures of him with the tine and will have the taxidermist replace it. After shooting it the deer ran straight into a tree and busted his rack. Paul believes he saw the 7 pt I liked just before this buck came in. There were hot does in the area the whole trip. This is a picture of my brother Eddie's buck. We didn't weigh it but it was a giant. Eddie was so nervous after killing this buck he could speak English. After my hunt we all went to look for him. Paul found him live. We wound up having to step on his antlers , hold his hind legs and I stood on his chest trying to compress his lungs. While I was standing on his chest (217 lbs of me) I could not compress his lungs. He tried to get up and lifted my brother who was standing on his antlers. Finally afte stabbing the buck his chest compressed and he died. This was the biggest buck I have ever seen. His neck was swollen and long. Estimated score of Paul's with time replaced would be 151". Ed scored his at 126 1/8" green gross. I saw two very large bucks with below what we were after antlers. Both looked like Mexican fight bulls with their large chests and small rut worn rear ends. Had one at 20 yds the 1st afternoon. If I would have shot him all three of us would have killed on opening day. No regrets, I went for a great deer and none presented themselves to me. Still not bad... Two out of three with true trophies.

It looks like yall had a great trip Mr. Don. You had your sights set on a good buck but never saw one that met your standards but you did get to share a hunting trip and success of your brothers hunts so I would say it was a great trip. Maybe next time it will work out in your favor.

Yes, Kenny, the trip was about three brothers hunting together, the bucks were a bonus.
